Museum Studies |
Affiliation: University of Toronto Museum Studies
Established in 1969, the Museum Studies seeks to provide students with a strong theoretical background and professional understanding of museum origins, ideologies, changing philosophies and current practices. Museology is a complex field. It examines the role and function of museums, the history of museums and museum work and the theory of collections in terms of their development, management, preservation, accessibility and use. It also involves theories and methods of communication, education and exhibition as well as the implications of the physical and organisational structure of museums.
