Event - Ben Shneiderman Lecture

Dr. Shneiderman’s talk gave an overview of creativity research, and demonstrated current software.  He then suggested ways to improve design of creativity support tools, and propose evaluation strategies.  He discussed the issues and innovations in visualization techniques for large scale information databases such as stockmarket data. He also demonstrated TreeMaps, TimeSearcher, and BioDiversity applications that illustrated the different possibilities of how to configure, condense, and explore information from large data sets.  This talk was sign language interpreter and attended by at least eight sign language users.
